GOOD NEWS: THE JUNCTION & MARK TWAIN AWARD + COME DECEMBER AMAZON BESTSELLER

Some truly exciting things happened this past week:

First, I received word that THE JUNCTION OF SUNSHINE AND LUCKY is now a finalist for the Mark Twain Readers Award. (I loved casting my vote for the Mark Twain Award when I was in school. It's really cool to know that my book is now in the pool of works for students to vote on in the 2016-2017 school year.)

Also, my short story "Come December" hit the #1 bestselling slots in two separate Amazon categories: single author short stories, and thirty-minute literature.

It's gearing up to be a great holiday, indeed...

A BLUE SO DARK WINS SILVER AWARD IN FOREWORD MAG'S BOOK OF THE YEAR!

Yep, it's true: A BLUE SO DARK took the silver award in ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Awards!

(Developments like these make the strangest noises come out of my mouth...My dog cocks his head to the side like he wonders if I'm all right...)

ME & MY IPPY!

Seriously—does anyone else have a dog who just has to get in on picture taking? I swear, every single time we grab the camera (video or still), Jake comes running. Sometimes, I think he really does know he's getting his photo snapped...what a camera hog...

Anyway, the reason for getting the old camera out is that my gold medal from the IPPYs arrived! (And it absolutely made me feel like some sort of Olympic athlete...)

Here's the medal (and A BLUE SO DARK, which won the award) at the Flux booth at BEA:
